Guinness Foreign Extra Stout is a full flavored beer, born of a thirst for adventure. Arthur Guinness was an explorer. He explored the senses. He explored taste. He explored texture. And of course, he was determined to explore pastures new and afar.
In the early 1800s, while other breweries were content to stay close to home, Guinness struck out into unchartered territories, braving the perils of sea travel to export our distinctive beer across the globe.
Brewed with extra hops to preserve the beer in the ships’ holds during voyages of four-to-five weeks in tropical climates, the recipe yielded a powerful drink with bold character.
Originally known as West India Porter, Guinness Foreign Extra Stout has evolved throughout the ages, but its soul has stayed the same.

Now 6.8% it seems. Brewed in Ireland but served at Benny’s place, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 330ml bottle. Poured almost black in colour with a thin, broken off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, herbal. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, with a smooth, rich, roasty, earthy, herbal, light molasses, liquorice bitter palate and a lingering liquorice bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

0,33 l bottle. Pours almost pitch black with quite big, light brown, lasting head. A bit of fusel alcohol aroma while pouring along with roasted malt. Aroma of roasted malt, some chocolate, licorice, a bit of dried fruit, alcohol and smokiness. Taste is medium sweet and on the heavy bitter side. Body is full, carbonation pleasant. Finish is quite long, sweetness fades quite quickly, but then there's another roast bitter kick that lasts. Really nice.

Bottle. A- Char, bitter, overripe dark fruit, cocoa. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, beige rocky head. T- Bitter, espresso, cocoa, roasty, dark fruits. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Much more bitter than I expected. Okay. I've learned Guinness beer really is better fresh on tap.

11.2 oz. (350 ml) bottle, 7.5% ABV. I could not find a "Best by" or "Brewed on" date anywhere on the bottle or the carton.
AROMA: Strong scents of dark, unsweetened chocolate and dark-roasted coffee beans. There is also a faint hint of cream.
APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a tall, dirty tan, head that dissipates slowly with excellent lacing. It looks extremely enticing in a clear Pilsner glass!
TASTE: The front-end is lightly sweet and earthy, with big flavors of chocolate, dark roasted coffee beans, and a hint of milk. The back-end is medium dry with a medium level of bitterness, and more of that dark coffee bean flavor. The finish is long and mildly bitter.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied but leaning towards full-bodied. Slightly rough texture with average carbonation.
OVERALL: While I find this to be a pleasing beer, I must say that I much prefer the Guinness Extra Stout (St. James's Gate Brewery (Diageo Ireland)) version to this "Foreign" version. That version has a creamier texture, a little more milk/cream flavor, and a much more balanced flavor profile. This "Foreign" version is more bitter, has a rougher texture, and a somewhat overpowering coffee bean flavor.
