Guinness Foreign Extra Stout is a full flavored beer, born of a thirst for adventure. Arthur Guinness was an explorer. He explored the senses. He explored taste. He explored texture. And of course, he was determined to explore pastures new and afar.
In the early 1800s, while other breweries were content to stay close to home, Guinness struck out into unchartered territories, braving the perils of sea travel to export our distinctive beer across the globe.
Brewed with extra hops to preserve the beer in the ships’ holds during voyages of four-to-five weeks in tropical climates, the recipe yielded a powerful drink with bold character.
Originally known as West India Porter, Guinness Foreign Extra Stout has evolved throughout the ages, but its soul has stayed the same.
Pack your bags, whet your lips and dive in.
Pure beauty. Pure GUINNESS®.

Bottles at various points in my life. Ebony. Good, beige head. Moderate retention. Good malt and roast, with honey and brown sugar; molasses at best. Clean, light roast, light vanilla. Decent strength, no alcohol. Soft, rich, malty, fairly roasty with moderate depth and good chocolate, molasses and milk lingering. At times when I didn't have access to craft beer this was a welcome sight.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep brown with a full 2 fingers of beige head that lingers. Lovely roasted malt aromas with tobacco, coffee and bready notes. Nice hop bite on the palate with dark chocolate and a peppery bitterness that lingers.

33cl bottle from hopt.it, France. Pours black with moderate fine brown foam. Aroma is intense of chocolate, plus coffee and nutty. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is pretty roasty bitter, long even in the final.

Geprobeerd van tap met Inoven en BartvG bij ons Brabant. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een medium schuimkraag. Het heeft een moutige wat zoete geur. De smaak is moutig en zacht.

Bottle from Home Bargains, Byfleet. Aroma combines a creamy caramel nuttiness with a roasty streak. Dark. Inky. Foamy creamy beige head. Initial sour berry hit alongside bitter espresso. Underlying creamy caramel. Medium bodied. Creamy. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Decent stuff. Thr sweet elements would get a but much if I was to drink more.
