Das Benediktiner Hell ist unser Lagerbier nach typisch bayrischer Brauart. Mit goldgelber Farbe, angenehmer Malzsüße und weniger Herbe.

Bottle online from Beers Of Europe. Pours a clear golden colour with a medium sized throthy white head. Aromas of sweet grains, hay, grass, white bread and a slight metallic note. Taste is the same with a touch of lemon, cardboard and the metallic note still lingering on the finish. Thinnish body, fizzy carbonation on the palate and slightly oily mouthfeel. Below average Helles in my opinion. Just ok.

Large rocky white head left a froth on pale golden body. Grain, cardboard & malt aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & creamy with soft, slightly tingly back. Sweet malt, cereal, biscuit & stone fruit tastes with a lightly hopped peppery finish. Easy drinker

Ein neues Bier im deutschen ICE-Speisewagen und der nächste Klosterorden, der seinen Namen für eine Brauerei hergeben darf. Ein durchaus süffiges bayrisches Helles, aber ich habe schon bessere getrunken.

0,5 bottle.Straw yellow, clean, but very light wort, with a nice white head, which is quite long-lasting. The aroma is also quite "clean". Bavarian malt, some classic German hops - just for the sake of disinfection. Sweet, but it has a good aroma, not that intense. Not too carbonated, a little bit bodyless. Minimal bitterness, Bavarian maltiness, natural, pure German sweetness. Basic hell. Nothing special. It's what it should be, but it doesn't stand out from the crowd.. These kinds of German beers are increasingly "laboratory-level" clean and uniform...

Alap hell. Semmi különös. Olyan, amilyennek lennie kell, de nem emelkedik ki kicsit sem a sorból.. Egyre inkább "laboratóriumi szinten" tiszták és egyformák ezek a fajta német sörök...

Tap at the Waterloo Tap, 23rd June 2021. Missed the train after the Hop Locker, so popped in to the WT. This is a good Helles, fairly clean, with some complexity and good flavour. Enjoyable

Can in a little thistle glass. Pale golden, approaching straw, modest but lasting head. Nose hints at graininess. Flavor features a light bready malt, maybe a hint of lemon. It's been so long so I've had a good helles, this is a nice reminder of the value of such beers. It surely isn't the greatest example, but its a fine beer. Balanced leading to semi-dry, with a modest bittering at finish. Extraordinarily clean fermentation profile. Honestly this beer grows on me a lot after the 3rd pour from the big 500ml can into my little glass that holds maybe 200ml. What are the hop flavors? Really hard to say, perhaps a tad herbal or grassy, but they are mildly stated. This is an interesting case of a beer that presents all ingredients of beer but at the same time not overwhelming in any case - it is not overly malty sweet, nor is it overly hoppy (flavoring) or bitter, and clean profile. Perhaps the definition of balance. I want another.

Canned 12/14/20, drunk 5/30/21. Large, white head shows strong retention, surprisingly (this has to be finely-filtered and force-carbonated). Crystal clear, white gold with brassy highlights. Pretty clean in the nose, and at five and a half months, most of the hops have faded, though there is a trace of light spice and hints of floral character. Bread dough and just a touch of hay and toast with no big honey or other overwrought sugars. No alcohol, no wax, no oxidation... White bread, a touch of grass, hard water mineral and more dough on the end, it's definitely not as richly malted as one would expect for the style, but yet it's also a lot cleaner than most random export helles. Some latant hop character is a plus here too, at almost six months. No wax/vanillin/cardboard/corn is a shock. Carbonation isn't too harsh and the texture has enough suppleness to it to provide interest. Not bad! much better than expected.
