750ml bottle pulled out of my cellar, received in a trade in 2009. Pours clear dark mahogany, small head, no lacing. Dark cherries, oak, mild tart, raisins. Nice. I'm sure this has changed since fresh, but it's tasty now.

On tap at Hops, Crewe. Pours a hazy ruby brown with a small cream head. Malts and toffee in the aroma with just a hint of sourness. In the mouth it is very briefly sweet with cherries before bitterness and sourness kick in, with hints of having been cask aged. Cherries remain along with molasses along with hints of blackcurrants and grapes. The sourness lasts into the dry finish. This is a classic beer.

Aroma is sour and fruity, with some caramelised malt. Sour taste, fruity (cherry mainly), slightly grainy and dry finish. Very thirst-quenching.

Aromas are mild cherries, musty, and a bit of malt and earth. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, cherries come out a bit more, more tart than sweet with a mildly soft mouth. Not a lot of character but easy drinking. The low end of the Rodenbach line.

Ruby/amber pour with a small white head; sour aroma of red berries and prunes. Taste is quite similar, adding (sour) cherries and a hint of raisins. Very nice and works well as an aperitiv as mentioned on their homepage.

Tap clear amber bubbly white head. Nose is candy and malt and some popsicle. Cherry really comes through in the mouth, candy and malt. Some medicinal notes. Full bodied, sweet finish.

Pint can?! Pours a dark reddish color with a fine foamy beige head that has fair retention. The aroma is mild with lightly soured fruits--cherries and berries I guess. The taste is lightly tart fruits backed by a bready malt base, Its this bready malt base that really stands out and makes this beer so special in my eyes. So simple yet so few brewers can pull it off. The palate is medium with soft carbonation. Finishes long with mild fruits and more of that malt base. Rather low acidity and tartness for a sour. Overall: Decent: One of my all time faves revisited and it still holds up well. A bit shocked to see this in a can--but it works--I guess I am way behind the times.
