RODENBACH is the unique & original “Flanders Red Ale”, recognised as a traditional local product. Mixed main fermentation and maturation in oak casks (“foeders”) give it the same sweet-sour flavour and complex fruitiness as wine.
RODENBACH consists of 3/4 young beer and 1/4 beer matured two years in oak. It's is highly refreshing and appetising: the perfect apéritif or session ale!

Pint can?! Pours a dark reddish color with a fine foamy beige head that has fair retention. The aroma is mild with lightly soured fruits--cherries and berries I guess. The taste is lightly tart fruits backed by a bready malt base, Its this bready malt base that really stands out and makes this beer so special in my eyes. So simple yet so few brewers can pull it off. The palate is medium with soft carbonation. Finishes long with mild fruits and more of that malt base. Rather low acidity and tartness for a sour. Overall: Decent: One of my all time faves revisited and it still holds up well. A bit shocked to see this in a can--but it works--I guess I am way behind the times.

Tight beige head on a reddish brown body. Sweet, malt & jam aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & sharp on the thinner back. Berries, malt, caramel & herbal tastes with a tangy acidic finish. Really refreshing in the extreme evening heat.

Bottle from Beyond Beer, drunk while fighting with the Lufthansa booking system. Medium red brown with a small head. Nice but not too complex sour nose, stone fruits/cherry hints. Flavor is sparkling fruit and smoothness, not too acidic on the finish, but short lived/thin aftertaste with hints of malt. Light body.

25cl bottle from hopt.it, France. Pours relevant brown, like whiskey, with limited brown foam. Aroma is fruity, of cherries, grapes, and a little malty. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is moderately sweet and sour. Final is fairly dry.
