Catch up rating from notes, 2012: 375 cl Bottle from Cora. Dark brown pour, light cloudiness, small but thick cap of head. Aroma comes in with a bit of winter spices, clove. Taste also goes with the now all-too-common "winter" spices, with some sweet malts and Belgian yeast thrown in for good measure. Bitter and dry finish.

330ml bottle. Clear deep dark red with average frothy to creamy, moderately lacing off-white head. Fruity and slightly spicy aroma has notes of cherry, coriander, a touch of clove, a dry to soapy hop overtone. Taste is initially dark malty with an upflashing touch of cherry, slightly soapy hop note, becomes later earthy and minimally spicy. Unbalanced.

Hazy brown beer, good off white head. Fairly neutral palate. Palate is slightly soft. Sweetish malt - creamy. Nice fruity undertone - cherry dominant. Finishes semi dry and malty. Not bad for a Xmas beer!

33cl brown bottle, poured into my huge ’Judas’ tulip glass. Best before 11 Mar 2012, so this is a young one (reviewed 14 Dec 2010). Looked impressive, ruby red body with a vast tan coloured head of foaming bubbles on top. The head fell away quickly, but left some lacing on the glass as the beer level sank. Red berries and Christmas spices filled my nose, along with hints of yeast smells. The taste followed the aromas, red berries, spices and yeast: add alcohol and some marzipan to liven and sweeten it up. The marzipan type flavours I got began to take over as the beer warmed and the beer then seemed a little sickly and too sweet towards the end of the tasting, pity. Overall, OK, but strange the way it changed completely as it warmed in the glass: drink it cold.

A clear brown ale with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, maderized malt with caramel notes, honey. In mouth, a sweet nutty malt with faint herbs, coriander, cloves, light bodied, tired. Bieropholie import.

Bottled 330ml (BZ, BB 09/2012)
Deep ruby color, good off-white, cloudy head, lace. Aroma is woody, grassy, a bit papery and with notes of alcohol. Medium-bodied. Malty, semi-sweet with berryish notes, hops, grass and some nuttyness too. Typical Leffe: "ok" but not very exciting Belgian Xmas brew.

33 cl bottle. Clear, deep amber liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of dried fruits, figs, dark fruits, caramel, toffee, banana and cherries. Aroma is malty, caramelly and light sweet and medium bitter. Biscuity and bready. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Good belgo ale with lots of fruity, malty notes. Better than I expected.
