A beast of a beer unlike any other Payette brew. Aged in 10 year old bourbon barrels in honor of our 10th anniversary. Wildly robust recipe with rich oak, vanilla, and bourbon notes, heat from the alcohol, and toffee flavors.

Bottle shared by MrHangover @ The Hague Tasting. Opaque dark black color, small brown head. Aroma is malts, slightly a hint of hops, nicely barrel aged, wood, caramel. Taste malts, wood, caramel, cognac, a hint of sweetness, but a bice subtle bitterness in the finish. I love the barrel coming through so clearly yet so subtle. Very nice.

On Tap at the tap room. Black with barely a ring of tan head. Sweet notes of chocolate, old leather and roasted malts. Fairly sweet and the IBUs don’t quite keep up for a RIS. A little chalky feel at the end, but big sweet malty roasted goodness. Very tasty. --- Beer merged from original tick of 12 Gauge Imperial Stout - Barrel Aged on 01 Jan 2014 at 00:33 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5. Original review text: 22oz bottle black with no real head to speak of. Sweet smooth roasty aromas. Notes of chocolate and licorice. Slick soft palate and logs of sweet caramels flavors again. Very tasty. Modest barrell aged flavors and quite subtle bitterness.

Dark black and chocolaty, velvety smooth with roast grain goodness. Higher ABV only evident with a little chest warmth. Nicely done! --- Beer merged from original tick of 12 Gauge Imperial Stout - Barrel Aged on 27 Nov 2015 at 20:04 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Original review text: 2012 vintage had at annual Black Friday event. This one smoothes out with age, with the barrel aging accents increasing to add emphasis to the solid RIS body. Heavy on the wood, elements of chocolate and roast grains, with tons of warmth from the ABV. have bottles from 2014 and 2015 to sample at a later date.
