Crystal malt, amber malt, black malt and roast barley in generous quantities generate a deep black colour and flavours to match. Roast bitterness, coffee and liquorice notes combine in a velvety rich malt texture. A full and sweetish body is balanced by traditional Goldings hops.

(Bottle 50 cl) Very, very black - would’ve been opaque if it hadn’t been for a wee reddish glow. Creamy, light brown head that sticks to the glass. Roasted, vinous aroma with lots of prunes and distinct alcohol. Full-bodied with plenty of dried fruity notes - raisins in particular, raisins that almost appear soaked in port. Soft, distinctly sweet with marked notes of licorice and almost no bitterness. This I like a LOT - yummy, yummy. 211205

The aroma is very sweet with notes of roasted malts and alcohol. The color is pitch black and it has a small chocolate brown head. The flavor is very sweet with notes of roasted bread, coffee, and bitter chocolate. In the middle the high alcohol content makes its presence known. It finishes like bitter chocolate. A very fine example of an Imperial Stout.

Dark; brown generous head. Light coffee, roasted malt, cardboard, chocolate; very light vanilla. The body gets a far better structure while warming a little… then the malt gives some good sensation, corrected by good roasted malt notes; unfortunately the alcohol is a bit too evident.

Fairly standard stout appearance, with a fairly alcoholic coffee aroma. The flavour is strongly coffee mixed with touches of sherry. Overall a bit of a disappointing imperial stout, as it is too much like a fortified wine.
