Crystal malt, amber malt, black malt and roast barley in generous quantities generate a deep black colour and flavours to match. Roast bitterness, coffee and liquorice notes combine in a velvety rich malt texture. A full and sweetish body is balanced by traditional Goldings hops.

Bottle, Corks of Cotham, Bristol. Poured a reaperish black. Disappearing dark biege head. Like a glass of tar. Roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit and coffee aroma. Flavour was packed with more of the same. Some sweetness. Very rich yet soft and tidily balanced. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

Århus2008 50 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a fizzy tan head leaving a nice little lacing on top of the beer. Coffee and hardroasted malt aroma. Flavour is sweet at first before a more roasted acidic malt note joins in and slowly take completely over with a set of nice acidic flavour hardroasted malt notes. Roasted and chocolate smoth finish. Nice one.

Milder Antrunk, kurz hopfig, dann würzig. Durchgängig mittelintensiv, leichte Altersspuren sind erkennbar (MHD: Anfang 2006). Leicht süß, aromatisch, der Alkohol, immerhin 10%, lässt sich nur kurzu blicken. Angenehm dosiert, erst zum ENde wird das Bier etwas kräftiger. Zum Teil wirkt das Bier etwas künstlich. [i] [b] Tasted during an Imperial Stout Tasting evening with Casey, Traci and Loz 14-03-08, [/i] [/b] Poured very dark brown with light brown bubbles on the rim. This starts of with a liquorice assault with brandy snaps thrown in for good measure. Some cream soda on the nose, the alcohol was maybe just a bit harsh but it does soften with a creamy vanilla finish.

Bottle @ GBBF 2007, London. Dark black color with virtually none head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, cola, soy sauce, plum, vanilla, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a long duration. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft.

Bottled@GBBF2007- Dark ruby red colour, small head. Aroma is alcohol, oxidation, acideic hops along with some dark fruits, vanilla and slight roast. Flavour is pretty much the same. Really nice palate.

500ml bottle. Black with disappearing dark beige head. Impy stout aroma. Oily dark malts. Very thick, quite a bit of sourness. Coffee and choc. Really interesting, lots of flavour. Tarry aroma. Sour. Some prune, liquorice. Nice, but needs more on its velvety depth.
