Tasting at Matt’s; vintage 2015
Black color, brown compact head. Pungent coffee aroma. The dark caramel and some chocolate flavor, with moderate sweetness, are stronger than the coffee; dark biscuits; a bit boozy.
Well constructed, nice.

2016-05-18. 650ml bottle from Park Royal at Matt’s place. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a tan head. Aroma is roasty, coffee (Arabica style). Taste is sweety, coffee, chocolate, veeery smooth and sophisticated. Burnt malt, coffee, dark chocolate aftertaste. Good stuff, very good balanced, but overpriced though. 8-4-9-3-16=40
2017-02-04. 650ml bottle at Jonny’s during Eclipses 2016 tasting. Pours an almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma is lots of coffee. Same taste. Good, but quite rough. 8-4-8-4-15=39

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is intense, with loads of dark espresso and bourbon barrels duking it out for frontrunner. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of dark fruits, coffee, and medium bourbon barrels. Well-integrated, with a great balance of fruity coffee and bourbon barrels. Not especially exquisite, but for what it is, it's very good. Not worth the price, but it's excellent.

2015 Vintage. 650 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate brown/tan head. Aromas of acidic fresh ground coffee, green oak, whiskey, roasted malts and raw alcohol. Flavors of dry black coffee, vanilla, light scotch, toasted oak, and dark bitter chocolate. Still a bit of an ABV edge but otherwise excellent.

Comparative tasting of 9 different Eclipse Stout variants. All beers small to rather good yellow-beige rim over jet-black beer Pure coffee nose, roasted, coffeebeans. Flavour repeats the nose, resulting in a rather low appreciation, as I don’t like coffee as a drink - and that’s what this is, plus a serious dose of alcohol, and the accessory heat. Other flavours overpowerd by the coffee.Quite well-bodied, see also the other variants. My least favourite Eclipse so far.

Review from memory. Sampled a few days after the Enijah Craig version. A solid stout, like the others in the series, but I expected to feel the coffee more. 4.3/5 Revisited on 18 March 2017: Very dark brown pour with a tall tan head with decent retention. Notes of brewed coffee, roasted coffee beans, honey, roasted malts, bitter chocolate as well as milk chocolate. molasses, some oak vanilla and oak sourness in the aroma, sweet bourbon notes from the Elijah Craig all over the place. Quite sweet but also nicely roasty-bitter in the post-taste. A world-class stout, for sure. Much more coffee than the first time I tried this.

Smooth and fresh dark chocolate beginning. Deep and soft with an intense alcoholic woody aroma. Great woody whisky aroma with great coffee hints. Great and round. The aftertaste is sticky and viscous, deep and great!
