Malziger, deutlich kaffeeartiger Antrunk. Deutlich würzig, dabei sehr weich, geringe Herbe. 11/11/12/12/12/12

2014 bottle.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a dark lush brown close to black color. Light film of a head appears and sticks and then slides down into the beer.
The smell starts off with a dry coffee bean to dry cocoa bean, somewhat roasty, somewhat sweet. Some honey does come out as it warms.
The taste was moderately sweet with a light sticky cocoa aftertaste and mildly sweet to roasty sticky finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body (guessing that’s because of the age, not sure where my roommate kept this). Carbonation is subdued, once again, I’m guessing due to the age. Somewhat sticky but not cloying.
Overall, for a Double/Imperial Stout, awesome. Definitely would have again.

(650ml 2014 bottle shared, from Mikkeller Webshop) Pours pitch black with a huge head of variably pale to dark tan froth, gorgeous, like a latte. Aroma of dark malts, honey sweetness, moderate roast with dark chocolate and a little coffee, some wood, light bourbon notes. On the palate, fairly sweet at first with dark malt, honey, molasses, dark chocolate and vanilla. Bourbon is present but not dominant. Bitter roasted malts, char, wood, and more and more brewed coffee start to dry out the beer towards the finish. The finish and long aftertaste are distinctly brewed coffee, woody bourbon and roasted, slightly ashy malt. Medium bodied with quite soft carbonation and basically no alcohol heat. Coffee had faded a little bit as the beer was pushing 2 years old, but really came hard in the finish and aftertaste. Honey addition was surprisingly strong up front. Not mind-blowing but very solid.
