Why would I wake up at 5am and leave manhattan and drive to the end of long island in January? Well for beer of course in particular this one. Pours rich dark brown, with huge milkshake thick head. Great nose of dark fruit and chocolate. I get tastes of chocolate, coffee, earth, plums, roasted barley, and vanilla. Great palate and slight boozy finish. Wonderful.

Bottled @ borefts 2011. Thx for the American guys sharing the wonderful stuff. As a volunteer, ofcourse I couldn’t allow any bottles being opened at the festival... ...unless I had a sip of it ;-) Pitch black. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolat. Nicely balanced between sweet and bitter notes.

2011 bottle shared by Jcwattsrugger. Pours oily black. Dark coffee head. Nose and taste of roast chocolate malts, dark malt, black licorice and vanilla. Taste is much more pronounced than the nose. Texture is chocolate milkshake. Velvetty.

Bottle shared by someone at the post EBF tasting, thanks! Poured black with a dark brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of roasted malts with a creamy chocolate with hints of nuts and coffee. Flavor was smooth with chocolate with roasted malts and some coffee that comes out in the finish.

750ml bottle. Number 57/500. Pours a viscous, opaque black with a frothy tan head. Big, malty nose, raisins, chocolate, smells like a milk shake, some pumpernickel, light vanilla. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar, malty, bread, chocolate milk, raisins, light grape jam. Full bodied but super smooth on the finish. A real treat.
