Bottle: Poured a deep pitch-black color stout with a huge medium brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of roasted malt with clear notes of green hops with light floral and bitter notes. Taste was a very nice mix between some roasted malt with dry coffee notes, some rich black chocolate and some green bitter and floral hops. All the ingredient and flavour were well integrated and balanced. Body was full with a smooth creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Not the most complex imperial stout that I have tasted but I must admit that everything was well balanced while still having some complexity.

bottle#412/500(thanks to Beerbill) at my leaving FL throwdown(17Dec10)pours thick oily black with a medium dark brown head. Aroma is all roast and coffee, very rich and burnt smelling. Flavor is roasted malt, burnt sugar, thin layers of smoke and cocoa nibs. Excellent beer.

750 mL bottle courtesy of MrChopin. 2010 Vintage, bottle 215/500. Thanks! Pours a pitch black color and a thin brown head struggles to form around the edges. Aroma of roasted malts, bitter hops, quite a bit of maple. Very dry. The taste is very dry roasted malts, bitter coffee, caramel, maple, vanilla. Full bodied Big rich and very, very dry. Nicely done.

Bottle 53 of 500 southampton russian imperial stout. Black thick tan. Beautiful intense choc and some perfume on aroma. Touch of violets on aroma. Rich smooth imp stout. Rich earth aroma. Pretty smooth. Some liquorice and tar on finish. Subtle. Still lovely and chewy on finish. That is a really good beer tar is good. So is the intense choc. That is good thanks to urbain for sharing. 4.3

Opaque black stout, good frothy tan head. Very light minerally nose. Light palate for an RIS, turns soft and dry. Minerally dark malts and coffee. Urbains palate pulls some violets out in the mid and now I can taste it too! Very subtle red fruit well buried in the undertone. Urbain is now getting notes of ’outdoor toilet aged newspaper!’ Fortunately I don’t share this taste! Very light on it’s feet for an RIS and hugely drinkable.

Stouts III Tasting. 2012 bottle. 64/630. Thanks to Leighton for the revisit on this classic. Opaque dark brown beer, darkish tan head. Airy palate, semi dry and a little soft. Rich dark malt chocolate and powdered chocolate. Roast malt, not too bitter. Pinch of licorice and warming spice. Very nicely joined up and appraochable.

2010 bottle number 371/500 thanks to alen. Pours with a black body and a tan head that leaves great lace. Aroma of chocolate, fudge, hops and citrus. Taste is earthy, toasty, chocolate, robust, hoppy with an emphasis on citrus hops. A very hop forward imperial stout. Big bodied with medium carbonation.

Bottle. 2009 vintage. #343/450. Black color small tan head. Roasted malty chocolate licorice aroma hoppy hints. Smooth malty chocolate and licorice flavor, hints of offer and hops. Has a roasted malty chocolate and licorice finish with bitter hoppy aftertaste.

Big thanks to gn0sis for this one. Bottle looks great, simple, but very good. The beer in the glass deep black, small head. Starts very malty, very strong, a bit alcoholic. Also very spicy. Turns then. From dry to sweet. Finish with sweet notes of marzipan, goes down soft and sweet like velvet, but still strong. Warming aftertaste. Great!

Bottle 375 of 450 thanks Jake65 for sharing. Pours almost black topped with a creamy brown head. Aroma is rich coffee, lots of dark roast, and dark chocolate. Taste much like the aroma awsome. Rich roast, espress and dark chocolate. Nice and thick just perfect.

No. 53. Big thanks to Douglass 88 @ the Pgh RB gathering 12/09. Please forgive my numbers on this, this beer certainly is on style. I rate by how much I enjoy a beer and this stuff was big and black with a choco moose head. Aroma was very crisp and volatile. Surprizingly there was no gunk on the bottom of the bottle. Big bitter beefy strong flavors that are way over the top for a lager lover. Coffee, licorice and chocolate prevail. Comes across like strong medicine. Big long bitter linger that roto-tills across my taste buds. Some carbonation. A little more smokey than dry. I am not worthy to have tasted nor rated this brew. But I am glad I got the chance to experience it. Why? Because its there.
