Subtlety. That's what makes Avalanche amber ale such a treat. We blend pale and caramel malts – and just a kiss of bittering hops – to create a refreshing-but-flavorful, any-time beer. Aromas of pale grains, a semi-sweet middle and a clean-as-Colorado-snow finish make this our best-selling beer.

I can't believe that I've never reviewed this old school beer, first brewed in 1988. No dating on the bottle.

Pours a clear amber, a finger of foam.

The smell has caramel malt, toasted malt with an interesting fruity character.

Caramel malt taste, light fruitiness, toasted malt, very light bitterness to temper the sweetness. Some grainy notes as well.

Medium body with medium carbonation.

Quite the tasty Amber. I should buy it more often.

On tap at Fuzzy’s. Clear, caramel color, with a big, frothy, beige head. The aroma is toffee, vanilla, smooth caramel, spruce, and spice. Sweet and syrupy, with a light bitterness. Light to medium body, with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. This is a fair beer, but a little weak.

Diego Poyet would be proud. The Ghost of Washington Poyet, not so much.

Tasting flight at the taproom in Denver. Amber with an off white head, honey biscuity malt aroma. Medium bodied with a chewey texture. This is a malt forward Amber Ale that is very English in style, the first decent beer I tried at this taproom.

This ale poured a medium amber colour with a quickly dissipating head. Scents include corn, berries and cream. First swig was slightly thin but flavours of fruit and light hops make up for the mouthfeel. Finish is slightly bitter with fruity hops lingering.

Draft pour at the field location. Rating from notes. Pours a clear copper color with a foam head. Spice, malty aroma. Sweet caramel, and a light bready feature. Maybe a little nutty. Smooth and rich. Decent amber.
