Brainless Belgian-Style Golden Ale is has a rich and complex malt flavor balanced with a little bit of spicy noble hops and strong influences of fermentation esters from the Belgian yeast used. Various Belgian like Rock Candies, hops and grains are employed to express variations within the style. Deceivingly drinkable, some liken theses ales to the Devil sneaking up on you, so consume responsibly.

Bottle from France 44. Pours orange with a transient beige head. Mild fruity ester aromas. Med body. Flavor is a little earthy, and definitely has mixed fruit esters. It hints at being sweet, but I think it’s dry. Mild heat burn. Smooth with a subtle mix of Belgian flavors. Quite nice.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; Release 27, bottled 1/1/2012. Pours fairly cloudy golden amber color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big pear, apple, banana, grape, bread, clove, pepper, floral, candi sugar, grass, and herbal earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity and spicy yeast esters. Taste of pear, apple, banana, grape, bread, clove, floral, pepper, grass, candi sugar, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, bread, floral, clove, candi sugar, grass, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity and spicy esters with malt sweetness; with zero cloying sweetness present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly slick and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Belgian golden ale. Very nice balance and complexity of flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Draught at Tadg’s. Spicy, yeasty nose with some lemon. Dark gold color with lace. Sweet malty flavor with honey and lemon. A bit too sweet for me, without a decent hop bite or solid crispness. Ok, though.
