This beer is very popular! Extremely complex and strong at 7.1% ABV. This beer is well balanced between the caramel-malt driven profile and the dry, supporting hops. Look for hints of dark bread and a slight fig or raisin taste all backed by a strong resin, but not overwhelming hop presence.

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting IV on 10/12/2012 (as "One-Off Cask"). The beer is a hazy dark amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, malt and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, figs and grapefruity hops. The finish is hoppy with a lingering fruit aftertaste. Above average overall.

Tasting at Papsø’s, release #6, 7.9% ABV
Muddy red-amber color, with small sized head. Resiny hop aroma, malt, caramel, fudge, oak. Sweetish malt flavor, but also with pleasant hopping, resiny and fruity, and some nice oak vanilla; strong bitterness, and a nutty end. Very pleasant.

On tap at Biercafe / Belmont Station, split with Matts_Property, pours dark amber / reddish brown with a small beige had. Aroma of dry caramel malts, some mild vinous qualities. Flavour is very sweet caramel malts, with dry vinous qualities to contrast. Medium-complexity, with a syrupy palate and cloying sweetness. Decent.
