This beer is very popular! Extremely complex and strong at 7.1% ABV. This beer is well balanced between the caramel-malt driven profile and the dry, supporting hops. Look for hints of dark bread and a slight fig or raisin taste all backed by a strong resin, but not overwhelming hop presence.

Aroma: The nose is sweet and sugary, with caramel malts, roast, fruity notes, and some hoppy undertones
Appearance: This one pours a murky, almost dirty, amber-brown color with an off-white head and good lacing
Flavor: Tastes more balanced with the mid-plus caramel sweetness, fruit flavors, and low-mid hop bitterness
Palate: It is medium bodied with a mouthfeel that's sticky sweet (not quite cloying, but it does detract a little)
Overall Impression: Overall, I thought this beer was decent, but I just wanted it to be a little bit better. I would have prefered some more presence from the hops and a little less of the (almost) cloying sweetness, as it was a little hard to get past. To me, this one was more like a Barley Wine then an Imperial Red. It is a decent offering, but honestly, I wanted to like this one more then I did.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy to murky amber/red with a small off-white head. Aroma is crisp hoppy, fruity and pine. Sweet, dense malty, fruity, bitter and light yeasty. Bitter and lingering hops fruity yet dry finish.

Bottled. A murky dark golden beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of hops, citrus fruits, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, hops, lemons, and straw, leading to a bitter finish. OK, but nothing special.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of nimbleprop. Pours a cloudy amber with a creamy beige head. Sweet caramel aroma with a twist of citrusy hops. Medium body, dry and almost astringent fruitiness with lots of citrusy hops leaving a bitter finish. Nice. 180911

22oz bottle-shared by jtclockwork–pours a retaining light tan head with trailing lace and copper color. Aroma is resin, medium malt-roasty/caramel. Taste is resin/orange hops, medium malt-roasty/caramel/hint of cocoa.

Bottle shared with Jcwattsrugger. Pours mahogany. Tan head. Nose and taste of hops, pine, dark breads, resin, cocoa and sweet malt. Bready malt and cocoa finish with some pine. Medium body. Solid.

Strongly and distinctly piney hop aroma, rather like being in a Carolina forest. Hazy ochre, medium yellow head, nice lacing. Same piney hop bitterness somewhat offset by sweet malt and cherry fruitness, but the hops are still prominent. Alcohol is not noticeable. Drinks like a hoppier, yet tamer, Arrogant Bastard, without Stone’s "house flavor". This is my first Epic beer and I like it so far.

Bottle at the 5th Annual Richmond Industry Gathering on 11/28/2010. Clear red amber bod with a small white head. Big floral hop arma. Big floral hop flavor with some caramel. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Bomber, courtesy of Mike the Epic guy from Stilton, thank you sir! Deep purplish brown color. Aroma of caramel and citrus. Taste has a great malt backbone but nice hops as well, nicely balanced. Good one.

Bomber at the 5th Annual Epic Beer Tasting in Richmond, VA, November 28, 2010. Pours a hazy red color with a medium frothy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of earthy hops and caramel. The taste is caramel, toffee, berries and bitter hops. Medium bodied.
