Bottle from HomeBrewStuff. Release #31. Dark brown, but clear body, light airy lasting head. Sweet, nutty aroma, taste adds some elements of semi-sweet chocolate, wood, peat, very earthy. More sweet than nutty, but fairly true to style, body could be a bit heavier.

Pour is a clear brown with a large white head. Aroma is a spicy dark fruit with a sweet molasses malt. Flavor is more molasses and dark fruit with a bit of sugar and a bready fig newton. Finish is more sweet dark fruit with a bit of spice. This is a fine doppelbock. A little sweeter than those made in Germany but still this follows all the guidelines.

Sample at the tap room in Denver. Dark copper color with a medium beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and dark fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, raisins and earthy hops. The finish is grainy malt and dark fruits. Decent overall.

Bomber from the Utah State store on Harris in Salt Lake City. Pours dark copper with very little head. Rich caramel/treacle aroma. Not a lot of hop smell. Med + body. Flavor is rich caramel, with a little treacle. It’s certainly not dry. The hop is just enough for some flavor and balance. It’s very nice.
