Bottle 375ml corked, at Københavnske Øldage. Murky, brown beer with a reddish hue, and a pinkish-beige head. Raspberries, sweetness, some cellar, caramel and spice-hints in the aroma. Raspberries, sweetness and cellar in the flavor. Not much cellar though. Slightly tart, citric and sweet mouthfeel. Acidic berry-finish. Nice one. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. 070512

Bottle. 375ml, corked and wrapped in paper. It pours quite clear, with lots of big chunks at the bottom of the bottle, but it’s easy to avoid pouring them. It’s dark ruby to brown in color, and with a small, off-white to beige head. The aroma is nice indeed, but a bit too much resembling raspberry candy. Cellar, dried fruits, white sugar, raspberries and some vinegar on the nose. Sweet and sour in the mouth, slightly tart. Medium body and a pleasant carbonation. Some cellar, dried fruits and lemon in the flavor, and a good dash of sweet raspberries. Not as intensely raspberry as in the aroma. Slightly metallic in the otherwise sweet and sour raspberry aroma. Very easy drinking, a bit heavy on both sweetness and raspberry candy in the aroma, but still lovely. Pity it’s discontinued. 101119

(375 ml bottle) Clear dark brown color, small tan head. Dominating raspberry scent, also a bit acidic. Acidic raspberry taste. Spritzy mouthfeel, no bitterness. A bit too much like a soft drink perhaps.

Bottle 25cl; BB Mar 2007, nose of raspberry and light funkiness; hazy purple-amber color with a small pink-tinged head; flavor is sweet raspberry mixed with a tartness that lasts into the finish.

Well this is just a pleasant one. Poured a brownish amber showing some red tints, with a huge webby fluffy head. At risk of sounding like Fred E, this is one noisy beer! I could hear the crackling of the head from a few feet away! I love the aroma, with hints of raspberry, pits or stone, and a slight funk, mostly like wet straw. The flavor was well balanced, with mild acidity, semi-dry, and just a touch of raspberry flavor. I was surprised at the low acidity/sourness, but I’m not sure how much of that is masked by the fruit. Either way, its very well balanced and amazingly easy drinking. Body is light, perhaps almost thin but not in a bad way. I appreciate the moderate alcohol content, I could drink and enjoy this whole 750 on a Monday night and not feel any ill effects.

Opening another 2005 bottle in 2026:
Dark burgundy to brown, lowish carbonation. Leathery, light corked, red wine and berry aroma. Wood, tannin, leather, still clear berry notes, caramel, still some sweetness, really nice.

Bottle. Berry nose. Hazy burgundy, low golden ring of foam. Grainy malt, slightly tart, but not acidic raspberries, slightly dry metallic exit. Sparkly mouthfeel, medium body. Nice and fresh but hardly teeming with complexity.

Lovely red colour, clear sweet smell of raspberry. Certainly one the less sour frembozenbiers I’ve tastet. I’m personaly not a fan of these kinds of beers - but this is really great, perhaps because this was more sweet than sour. Perfect as a dessert beer!

[Draught at White Horse, London] Cloudy dark red, no head. Balsamic raspberry aroma. Fairly sweet with medium body and some tart acidity. The complexity of the Goudenband is almost hidden in the raspberries, but it’s still in possessionof a fair bit of character.

(375ml bottle at Leon de Belge, Essen/Ruhr, vintage 2005) Hazy, dark reddish colour with a short and diminishing pink foam. Strong fruity and sweet aroma of raspberries, slightly artificial and perfumed with a sourish background. Sweet flavour, light to medium body, moderate carbonation. Sweet raspberry taste with a light sour note and a slightly tart but mainly sweet and fruity, malty finish (13.04.06).
