Misty deep brown with a large beige head. Aroma: special malts, dried fruit, light nail polish. Full body. Taste: medium sweet. Rich malts, dried fruit, a hint of nail polish, warming alcohol. Fairly good. But pretty basic.

Bottle from 2010. Tastes lovely, lots of toffee, light sparkle, body is full but at the same time light and airy. Fruity, rich, plums, marzipan. Pretty damn nice. Doughy.

Aroma has rosebuds and malt. Sweetish, malty and a bit of sourness. Warming sensation of alcohol, red berries. Lots of alcohol and fruit, but the flavor is OK. Bitter aftertaste. Re-rate: rating stays the same, but I noticed pear and raisin. Maybe this bottle was younger, the taste was very sweet and sugary.

Surprisingly the alc does not shine through a lot. A quality quad, with the typical figs & dates aroma. The body is quite thin for the style, seemingly lots if simple sugars added. Great yeast contribution. online belgian beer factory

Long sought, finally appropriated in my last trip to the Netherlands. A cooled off 33 cl bottle being poured into my best Trappistes glass, it arrives a courteous cola-brown complete with a swell spread of sepia-colored, very fine foam. Great scent, even from a distance, better up close, spun sugar, malt, yeast and yellow fruit. The payoff, a drink, really, really nice. I determine figs and dates, wheat bread, yeast, elixir, nicely creamy and bitter too, some yin and yang here. Pretty complete. I’d love to locate another. When?
