As with all sour ales, the initial sip wakes up your dull senses. There is an elevated level of Acetic Acids working their magic in this beer. The first sip assaults the palate in an enamel stripping bottom of the pH chain sort of way. In Belgian brewing there are fantastic wild ales brewed with naturally occurring yeast. These beers develop over time and are ready on their own terms.
Duck Duck Gooze is our homage to these effervescent and wonderfully complex sparkling beers.A blend of young and old barrel aged beers, this has been one of our most sought after beers year after year since it’s original release in 2009. Alas, it is released in very small quantities only once every three years, so it’s extremely difficult to come by beyond the day we release it. It does, however, turn up on our Tasting Room’s Vintage List from time to time, so don’t despair.

On tap at Stone Sourfest. Pours with a small white head and a hazy golden body. Aroma of brett, lemon, citrus, horse blanket and pineapple. Taste is super sour with notes of honey (but not the sweetness), floral, tartness and pineapple. Light carbonation. Pretty awesome, that said, I had some Isabelle Proximous on tap afterwords, and IP blows DDG away in my opinion.

750 ml bottle at RBSG. Nose of orangey zest and tart oranges mixed with some light funkiness. Murky yellow with a small white head. Flavor was tartly sour with some funk mixed in. I loved this one! Thanks Tomme and Christian!

alohaC with the mad ill hookup at RBSG’09 Grand Tasting out of an unlabeled 750mL bottle. So I am not a LA/PP fan boy but this was freaking amazing. Basically the aroma is straight up lemony cobwebs and citrus brett. Its all over and all awesome. Flavor is more like tart, earthy vinegar. Plenty of mouth puckering to go around as well. Oh and it happens to be beautiful with a cloudy, thick dull golden, cannot see through it. It is very clean for a sour of this type, which puts it a bit ahead of the Isabelle Proximus.
