We brew 120 Minute IPA a few times a year, but it goes fast. If you find some grab a few bottles -- some to enjoy and some to age.
Every Beer Has A Story...
Check out our Quick Sip Clip to see Sam talking about 120 Minute IPA. In the video, Sam also shows off some of our vintage pieces of brewing equipment, including our second-generation continuous-hopping device, Sir Hops Alot. He also touches on why we dialed 120 Minute IPA back in ABV, some aging recommendations, and a little lesson on IBU measurement. Enjoy!

Flaska från trade, vintage 2013. Mörk, riktigt murken och grumlig rostbrun med smutsvit/biege krona. Kanderade apelsinskal, kola, choklad, citrus. Stor kropp, ganska het fortfarande. Viss beska kvar men även här ganska snäll.

It took a long time to locate 120 Minute but I did find it in 5/18 at The Cellar in close-by Odessa. The 12 oz bottle is stamped with a born-on date of 4/19/18. A search on the internet tells me that the ABV is 16.5% easily making this the most potent IPA I will have ever had. Time to see what the deal is. My Cowtown Brewing tulip glass receives the pour, a dark orange-gold liquid. The head is a small ring of almost-white, very fine bubbles. The scent carries from a distance, I get pine, candied fruit and citrus. A sip delivers pineapple, grapefruit, a small hoppiness, hard candy. It has a definite alcohol presence, has some heat and is thick for an IPA. The brew gives a cocktail impression, I do not mind. Intriguing. I like it more than expected. Three more to pull out over a period of time. Life is good. So here a few years later I see that 120 Minute has tumbled out of the top 50 for the style. No understanding of that. I have a recent 12 oz bottle, opened and tasting now. It is still an unusual and outstanding DIPA, way beyond from what I first expected and overachieves today. So there it is. Adjust my rating of the brew a bit, my favorite for the style now. No doubt.

Amber color. Aroma of pine resin, alcohol, and floral notes. Taste is alcohol, hop bitterness with a hint of malt sweetness and dank earthiness. Tastes sweeter when it warms up. Alcohol is the overpowering flavor. A sipping beer.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is sherry, caramel, raisin. Pours hazy burnt orange with a < than one finger bone white head with decent retention. Taste is both highly sweet and highly bitter with strong caramel and sherry notes, some licorice. Citrusy hop notes are there, but the alcohol warmth and caramel malt kind of drown it out. Like an extreme barleywine with pronounced American hop notes.
Takie barleywine troche bazujacy na utlenieniu, ma ostry, goryczkowy finisz, slodkie, alko niezle ukryte... rispekt ale nie dla mnie. 3.9?
