The Abyss: Stout brewed with licorice and molasses with 33% aged in oak and oak bourbon barrels.

It’s dark. It’s deep. It’s mysterious. Aged in French Oak and Bourbon barrels, this special brew has immeasureable depth inviting you to explore and discover its rich, complex profile. Bottle from city beers. Brownish black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee malt. Flavour is bitter chocolate malt, licorice, creamy dry bitter finish.

Bottle, 650 ml, from Park Plaza Liquor & Deli, Prescott. Shared with Max and JFK10000. Black with medium beige head. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, pine, smooth as hell, fantastic strong bitter finish. Wood. Low carbonation. Complex, but easy drinkable. Medium to full bodied.

Bottle shared at at the partizan rot box tasting. Many thanks. 2010. A dark black brown coloured pour with a loose dirty tan head. Aroma is nutty brown malts, mint, aged, bourbon, soy. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, sticky brown sugars, marshmallow, woody brown, bourbon cherry,. Woody. Palate is medium sweet, tangy, rounded, medium full, harsh woody finish. Aged finish. Lingeting dark choc finish.

Tap at Surly Goat, West Hollywood, 21st November 17. Pours black, nice head. Aroma is roasty, malt, leather and liquorice. Taste is smooth, rich, bitter, leather, liquorice, not too sweet. Good beast.

Bottle, vintage 2016. Aroma is chocolate, cherry, some pine. I don't taste liquorice. Good.
