On tap at the GBBF 2011. Cloudy amber pour (start of a new keg). White head. Not very bitter for an IPA (which is what it called it in the CAMRA guide), more of an ESB as described on Ratebeer

cask at charlies clear orange,small orange head. Mild aroma. Slightly hoppy. Flavor is exotic fruity, hoppy fruity, crisp almost spicy, sweet malty balance, good hoppy dryness, ends bitter hoopy and slightly spicy. Excellent bitter, very tasty

50cl bottle. Pours a cloudy amber ale with gentle bubbles and a big head. The nose has honey, hay and nettles. More honey and nettles on the taste. The palate is rich in structure, quite creamy in texture and it cleans sufficiently on the end to make you want the next drink. Overall, nice ale!

Milder Beginn mit angenehmen Hopfentönen, die Bitterkeit ist dem angemessen. Der Hopfen verstärkt sich etwas und steht nun deutlich im Vordergrund, die Bitterkeit steigert sich ebenfalls, wirkt aber ziemlich trocken. Ausgewogen grasig und holzig, zuletzt auch dezent fruchtig. Süffiges IPA, insgesamt aber zu trocken.

500ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a large frothy head. Aroma is a metallic, bready orange. Taste is bready to start. Bready malt finish with some orange on the aftertaste. Very lively.

Bottle at Euston Tap, London. Pours cloudy amber with a fine film head. Light malt aroma with vegetal and spicy hops. Flavor has mild sweetness, yeast and slight, earthy bitters, along with faint metallic notes. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation. Finishes lightly bitter with faint caramel malts. Overall uninspiring. One of the guys I shared this bottle with (a highly respected London beer blogger) said the beer needed more time. As it was, I found it average at best. I even felt like it had a macro-produced character to it, and this was before I knew it was a brewed by a subsidiary of a giant. I just need to try an older bottle, I suppose.

Pours dark amber approaching copper with an amazing large lasting head.Nose is light and refreshing at first with soft earthy, resinous and spicy hops. Not a huge amount of malt but whats there shows cookie-dough and almost bready characters.Flavours close follow the aromas but with more malt noticeable and a powerful hoppy bitterness, quite lengthy.Carbonation is too high, a distraction from the malt.

Bottle, 14C. Best before 6/11. Bright clear copper. Four fingers of cream head. High bead. Dry hoppy aroma of grass, resin and flowers with a little caramel. Very rich and complex caramel and toffee malts with modest but lingering bitterness. Very heavy mouthfeel for the ABV. Alive and fortifying, but maybe a bit tiring too. [3.8]Bottle. Took a long time to pour, but completely clear copper with a towering head. Aroma has alcohol, toffee, figs, resin, flowers, grass, sweet-shop spices. Very substantial malt is a little chewy and has layers of caramel and toffee. Seething bitterness with resinous , floral and spicy hop notes in a bitter and somewhat boozy finish. A huge beer for 5.6%. [3.9]BB 9/17. Something is wrong here. Has no depth or guts. Boiled sweets sweetness. No spices, just a hint of nagging bitterness. This has always been a tricky beer to pour, but this kept pouring clear all the way and there’s no visible sediment. This bottle is maybe a 3, and I hope it’s just this one.

6th August 2008. Pineapple and mango sweetness. Dry finish but no real bitterness. Unusually sweet for the style.

Bottled (BBE 11/2007)@The White Horse, Parsons Green. Amber colour, big fluffy beige head. Aroma is wood, parfume, some earth and quite strong cardboardy and rubbery notes. Flavour is raisins, sweet malts, some grass and mild wooden notes. Flavour ruined about being too old, but the flavour had turned out quite interesting.
