Our barrel-aging experts present a unique cocktail crafted ale.
It’s a copper-colored brew that plays off the beloved taste of a bourbon Old Fashioned – the most iconic of Southern cocktails. This seasonal is brewed with tart cherries and orange peel, then aged in fresh bourbon barrels as well as bourbon barrels used to age bitters. Kindly donated Cherry Bitters barrels, originally used by Kentucky’s finest distillers, impart their wonderful character on this beer. Subtly sweet, it’s balanced by bitter hints of hops and bitters, as well citrusy notes of orange.

Draft at Sunset Grill &Tap. So the bartender here just have me a history lesson on what bitters are in whiskey cocktails. Just learned something new. Beer continues to teach me stuff.. Pretty bad ass. Aroma is light herbal hints underneath oak and old cherry syrup.
Is the flavor like an "Old Fashion" ?? Perhaps. I’m not a cocktails drinker but I will say that I didn’t hate this like I thought I would but the herbal bitters is a bit oberpowering. That with the overly sweet vanilla oak and after 4 oz.; I had my fill. Don’t think I ever would want more then 12 ounces at at time.

Bottle. Oaky caramel malt aroma. Clear copper with a small, quickly dissipating off-white head. Oak, bourbon, cherry, and faint bitter peel flavor. Body on the light side of medium, moderate carbonation.

On tap at bocktwon. Clean pale, seems a little viscous. Sweet cloying aroma. Taste is the same. Overly sweet with alky laced attributes. Warming sensations down the gullet. Tastes like whisky. Strong finish.

Bottle: Cloudy, red-brown with a minimal white head. Caramel-apple, berry, bourbon scent. Apple, cherry, sweet wood, bourbon taste. A touch of alcohol warmth, but quite smooth. Pretty nice.

Oak and bourbon aroma, not very strong. Clear copper, medium yelllow head, poor retention. Bourbon and cherries, apples, subtle. Medium body, easy carbonation, alcohol well concealed. Quaffable. All the flavor of bourbon in a much more drinkable format.

Bottle. Prune, over-ripe orange, and caramel malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet apple/raisin malt and moderately bitter herbal hay/alcohol flavor. Not particularly pleasant.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a dark orange-amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was faint and vague with a bit of tangy malts. The flavor was tangy, boozy, grenadine, and sweet vague fruits. Tastes like an old fashioned. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.
