3L bottle. Holds up well for being 20 years old. This is really good. Smooth, slight balsamic. Showing a bit of age, but what do you expect after 20 years? Not re-rating this one as I've already rated it before, but wanted to note this for historical purposes. Just noting this here. Thanks Eugene for sharing this!

Dark pour with a small head. Big sweet notes, plum, red fruits, malts, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, sweet nuts. Full mouth but not as thick as the 14% would lead you to believe. Booze is well-hidden throughout. A classic for a reason. 2022 edition.

What an awesome strong ale. I can see why you might call it a Doppelbock, but it has left that mostly behind. More akin to the monster Barleywines and Imperial Stouts of today, without the crappy flavoring or overloaded sugary feel. Deep caramel over sherry notes. Just a fantastic beer.

Draft at Burp Castle. An alcohol fueled monster. Poured dark with some read. Fruity and a bit plummy? I don’t know. But yeah not malty enough and with 14%, damn...
