What an awesome strong ale. I can see why you might call it a Doppelbock, but it has left that mostly behind. More akin to the monster Barleywines and Imperial Stouts of today, without the crappy flavoring or overloaded sugary feel. Deep caramel over sherry notes. Just a fantastic beer.

Slight dark amber colour with small head.Nose is intense malt as well prunes and figs.Caramel and malt and red fried fruits. Warm feeling after a few seconds. Not my kind of beer but for the ABV is really well brewed .The strongest one so far I guess.

Draft at Burp Castle. An alcohol fueled monster. Poured dark with some read. Fruity and a bit plummy? I don’t know. But yeah not malty enough and with 14%, damn...

Bottle. Not the best dopplebock I’ve ever had but man can it ever kick you in the tale. It sneaks up on you. Anyway, nice color and flavor. Probably won’t drink again. Just way too strong.

0.33 bottle from Austria. It has a strong alcoholic aroma and heavy cloying sweetness, with the taste of alcohol as well.Full bodied with a long warm finishing. Good quality, but not my cup of tea.

Pours a deep mahogany, with no head to speak of. Aroma is very nice, loads of malt, malt, and more malt! There is also a big ripe fruit, brandy, and nuttiness. Flavour is quite sweet, and malty, with big brandy flavours. The mouthfeel is THICK, the alcohol is definitely present, but its not a prevalent as you would think for a 14% beer. The alcohol wamrs on its way down my throat, but its welcome, and doesnt overpower. Just a superb sipping beer.
