Pours reddish brown with little to no white head. Aroma of rye, malt, booze. Taste has herbal malt notes, licorice, molasses, chocolate. Palate has molasses on the nose, light booze. Interesting. Strong as hell.

Ordered online from Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds. Light and slightly reddish brown, clear, very little head. Big boozy aroma, molasses, boiled sweets, some turpentine and a hint of smoke. Sweet taste, malty and sugary with a nice alcohol kick. Light astringent and fruity hoppiness adds balance to the finish. Brandy, satsuma and crème brûlée in the aftertaste. As good as I'd remembered... no, better.

8-4-7-4-15 Bottle, vintage 2011, nine years after bottling. Pours clear dark mahogany, with a small creamy mocha head. Aroma is roasted malts with rye bread, kandi sugar, prunes and dark fruits, as well as liquorice and tannins. Creamy body, with soft to average carbonation. Flavour is dark and fruity malty notes of rye bread, molasses, kandi and liquorice, as well as tobacco, rum raisins and tannins.

Vintage 2007. Pours clear medium brown color with almost no head. Caramel and molasses aromas with some alcohol. Sweet molasses flavors and slight boozy burn. Medium to full body with almost no carbonation. Very nice.

330 ml 2016 bottle. Unclear brown, small head. Brown sugar, caramel, overripe pear, cognac, wood barrels. Malty sweetness with a dry hint. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, sweet finish. Abv of 14% well hidden, quite smooth. Good!
