Hoppin' Frog brewmaster Fred Karm has won multiple awards for his chilli cooking, and the Hoppin’ Frog Tasting Room has been voted one of the best in the US for its food, so we decided to collaborate on a chilli beer with a chilli con carne cook-off while we brewed it! Caramel sweetness from the malt balances the smoky heat in this one-off celebration of the glorious chilli pepper.

Bottle at home, 6th August 16. Pours a deep brown red. Aroma is dark malts, slight caramel, chilli. Taste is chilli forward, really well integrated into the malt base, the chilli persists and is not shy. Great to sip, giving a constant chilli, hop hit. I really like this, but any one that’s not a chilli head would probably beg to differ.
