Characteristically Trappist ale and the source for the name of this ale style. Warm, amber-coloured with a cream-coloured head. The full, heart-warming and intense taste is malty with sweet tones of dates and caramel. EBC 35.

malty aroma, a sweet and fruity taste with alcohol. Lacking in complexity, compared to the Belgian Trappist ales, but certainly very nice to drink Re-rate from tap: Peacharoma. Malty flavor with cherry and peach. Alcohol clearly present. Much fruitier as the bottled version. Re-rate from tap, 2004 version, tasted in december 2009: Large snifter for only € 2,20 in Café Morshuis Albergen. You’re too kind Eduard. Malt, sherry, cherry brandy in the flavor. Some dust and tartness reveal the age of this brew. Almost full bodied, thick and sticky on the tongue. The aroma could be a bit more outspoken, but this is a very tasty brew. Bottle, labeled as La Trappe Quadrupel 2008, bought in 2013, tasted in march 2014. Amber color. Malt, caramel and butter in the mellow aroma. Malty sweet, slightly alcoholic flavor with toffee, butter and upcoming porto and sherry flavors. Bubblegum, Well controlled oxidation. This beer really matures well.
