A black beer with a ridiculous, huge head that is light brown. The nose is strongly smoked with dry smoke and smoked ham, some tar liquirice, sweetness and roasted coffee. Smokyness isn’t so strong in the taste, coffee, some chocolate, the end is roasted and quite dry, also some bitterness. Medium+ bodied, not too much of carbonation. Great aroma, succesfully and smoky beer.

Tap, Taphouse. Murky, dark brown. Small, tan head. Light, roasted and mildly smoked aroma. Flavour has raw licorice and smoky notes. Dry, bittet finish.

Black beer with a thick brown head. Taste of roasted malt, licorice and some mild smoke. Quite balanced, good beer.

Bottle from Craftissimo at home. Deep black pour with dense light tan head. Aroma is bacon, very smokey, roasted malts. Taste is a bit sour at first, hoppy bitterness, salty smokey finish. Palate is not as rich as it looks - it works. A bit of a silty/powdery palate too which isn't that noticeable but not nice. Interesting beer - glad to try but wouldn't get again.

Keg at Brewdog Birmingham; dark brown pour with a creamy dark tan head, roast malt and dark fruit aroma, taste has subtle smoke, along with dark fruit’s, definitely has some ash qualities to it.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/5/2014. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, roasted malt, wood smoke, toast, dark bread, light char, leather, herbal, and roast/smoke earthiness. Nice aromas with solid complexity and balance of dark/roast/smoked malt notes; with good strength. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, toast, dark bread, molasses, coffee, wood smoke, leather, herbal, and roast/smoke earthiness. Slight roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, toast, dark bread, coffee, molasses, wood smoke, herbal, and roast/smoke earthiness on the finish for a while. Good balance and complexity of dark/roasted/smoked malt flavors; with solid robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice smoked imperial stout. Good complexity and balance of dark/roasted/smoked malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. Flavors did not feel as bold as I was expecting for a 9% stout, but is a nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle, 12C. Black with a tan head that settles to a good coat. Aroma of mocha and peat, rum, dark berries, an odd sour milky note . Fairly sweet with a bit of peaty bite, a little boozy heat comes in pretty early. Not dominated by smoke but the berries get a little lost. Dry and quite bitter at the end. Not very ashy but slightly medicinal there too. Not entirely convincing.
