One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and well rounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

Bottle from Boise Coop. Right in the wheelhouse for a classic porter. Dark, sweet and malty, pour has nice fluffy head which leaves streaky lacing. Nose is sweet malt, leading into flavors of molasses, peat and sweet malts. Classic porter.

29th May 2015: on-tap as Carlsberg Carnegie Baltic Porter at the Seal Beach Beachwood BBQ bar. Coffee flavoured dark brew with a bitter bite towards the finish. Semi-sweet in the mouth it gets drier and more bitter in the aftertaste. Decent.

Aug ’14. A 0.33l, 2014. bottle from Systembolaget, Upplands Väsby. It poured very dark brown body with small light brown head. Coffee and some sweet dark malt aroma, especially cocoa, chocolate pudding and caramel. Flavor was sweet, really fine, dominated not by so much coffee as in nose, but chocolate and cocoa now. Herbal hop bitterness was finely blended in. Not so full in body, thinner despite being really tasty. Long coffee-cappuccino-chocolate finish. I knew it’s a Swedish classic, but didn’t expect it to be so good!

Ingen stor doft men smaken håller. Funkar riktigt bra att lagra.
