Bold & rich, this enveloping quad builds its force and character through interlacing layers of flavor. Its deep complexity begins with a molasses sweetness with notes of dark fruits like raisins and figs but develops further with an undercurrent of tart spice from its distinctive Belgian yeast for a truly transfixing brew.

Bubbly beige head left a good cover on finely carbonated reddish brown body. Big boozy aroma with caramel, malt & super glue? Medium to thin bodied, prickly on the palate & a clean finish. Red currants, wood, sour berries, cloves, sherry, oak & medicinal tastes with a long herbal finish & a massive alcohol taste There's immense acetone problems with the aroma & taste in this beer........... I imagine this is a couple of years old so don't really understand the problem On the other hand.... This is never a Quad - Dubbel at it's best

Flaska från SBs beställningssortiment drucken med ölföreningen. 2015 vintage.

Not a great introduction to Sam Adams’ Barrel Room Collection. Fruity and moderately sweet, with solid notes of currant and molasses and plum, yet the barrel aging gives it a dry, medicinal bitterness, too firm for the style and distracting from the normal Quad complexity. Nice doughy bread notes perk up on the finish, and the sweetness lasts throughout, but the boozy fade and the heavy oak adds a liquor fade I’m not digging. Nose is fig, oak, and too much alcohol, and the looks are mediocre. Skippable quad.

Purchased in a 750 ml. bottle in the Dallas area and brought home to drink. I pour into a chalice to see a very dark body with just a touch of red up against the light. The head is a creamy white, thinnish but does give a fair lace on the glass. A scent like no other, dark fruit, tobacco I think and split wood. The taste goes from there, raisin, black plum, licorice, a deep molasses and a hard candy sweetness. Intriguing and different. I cannot put this at the top of the list for quads but I can appreciate it. Oh, the 10.2% ABV is lurking around the edge. Be aware.

750 ml bottle from Buy Rite. Aroma is full of dark fruit (raisin, prune, dates, etc.). Murky brownish orange color with a thick, creamy, lasting tan head. There's a lot of spice here too. Clove is the portion of the aroma that lingers the most. Not sure I would have been able to tell this with barrel aged unless it was written on the bottle. There's nothing oak here at all. Super heavy malty. Fairly full bodied, thick, chewy, cloying, and on the heavier side. Pretty solid, well made, dark fruit and clove quad. There isn't much wrong with this one really, but it's just so freaking thick and heavy and sweet that I can't imagine wanting more than one.
