A very good stout with a nice roasted flavor and good bitterness. The color is very dark almost black with a creamy head.

Licorice, tar, tobacco, and fudge nose, pretty strong. black, thick, beige head. Light body considering the robust aroma. Licorice and fudge flavor. tobacco throughout. Finishes with tar. Will not have broad appeal, but I really dug it, just a little thin.

Bottle at Hamiltons. Not a big Impy, but decent. Pours a pure black color with a small white head. The aroma is a milky roast, light coffee. A mellow stout with roasted malts, sweet milky coffee, vanilla. Pretty nice.

33cl bottle. Poured a black beer with frothy tan head, good lacing and perfect lasting on the glass. Aroma has toasty and roasty notes, dark chocolate and coffee hints. Flavour is toasty, traces of dark coffee, hints of vanilla, dense on palate and a final slightly bittery. Carbonation is soft. Texture is oily. Body is high.

330 mL bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a rich dark brown color with a thin fizzy brown head. Average head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, cherries, soy, nuts, honey. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, leather, caramel, soy, honey, fruity notes and a bitter but mild hop finish. Medium bodied. Very nice.

Bottle, at Ølfestival 2011. A black one, topped by a dense, tan head of fingerthick size. Buttery nose with coffee and roasted malts. Dried fruits too. The flavor is on the roasted side, coffee quite evident, with some faint vegetal hints too. Roasted style bitterness chimes in towards the end, and lasts for a while. Full bodied and lightly warming. A decent beer, but not clean enough or tasteful enough to make me interested in drinking it again. 110527

Dark chocolate and cola are strong in the aroma. It also smells sweet and toasty, like fresh bread and caramel. Unfortunately, it’s all a tad weak. The taste is marred by the body which is fairly thin. It’s kinda fizzy and washed out. Fairly sweet with roast and mineral hop bitterness in the finish. A touch of booze throughout. Pours about the color of black coffee with a dissipating beige head. Decent but nothing special.

Opague black colour. Smells roasty, coffee, chocolate and some vanilla. Taste is quite sugary for a stout but okay.
