Smooth, roasty and heavy with coffee notes, hints of bourbony vanilla and oakiness. Classic OMT stuff, still pretty good.

Holy. Crap. Draught. Pitch black pour with almost no head. Incredible dark chocolate mocha coffee goodness. Almost minty in fact. Lots of alco but it works. Basically I am still drinking it as I type this am am nearly speechless.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (base 20C / 30A: chocolate and coffee / 33B: bourbon). Bottle 35.5 cl - Batch undeclared (BB undeclared - Bottled on 10.16.24). AROMA: medium-high notes of cocoa and coffee, slight vanilla and faint dried grapes. medium-low vinous alcoholic aroma. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium light brown head, creamy, with good retention for style. leg formation. TASTE: initial medium chocolate and roasted coffee flavor, followed by a slight woody note. hints of bourbon. medium bitterness with a semi-dry and roasted finish. TEXTURE: medium-high body with medium carbonation. alcoholic warmth. OVERALL: although the chocolate and coffee seems a bit too much, there are still some extra hints that gives some complexity to the beer. more bourbon character would be good.

Bottle. Every bit as good as everyone says. Velvety smooth blackness, small tan head. Taste and aroma is extremely complex. Great stuff.

Bottle at home on Christmas Eve. Őszintén szólva kissé tartottam tőle, mert többször megesett már, hogy belefutottam olyan, itt igencsak magasan jegyzett sörbe, ami aztán kisebb-nagyobb csalódást okozott. Hiszen ahhoz, hogy valami legenda státuszig emelkedjen itt a ratebeeren, nem árt, ha sok/több értékelése van, ami meg ugye aránylag ritka az új(abb) söröknél, ismerve az oldal látogatottságát. Ugyanakkor a KBS meg csak KBS, gondoltam magamban, biztosan tud azért valamit, ami egy olyan közepesen tapasztalt fogyasztónak is nyújt valami izgalmasat, amilyen én vagyok. Nos, újfent tévednem kellett. A relatíve magas elvárásaimat félretéve is ez bizony ez tisztességesen összerakott, korrekt kis impy közepes, vagy annál kissé kevéssé intenzív hordós karakterrel. És nagyjából ennyi. Persze, azt könnyű látni, hogy ez 10-15 éve miért lehetett akkora durranás, de azért szerencsére manapság ezt a szintet jócskán megugorja már egy közepesen jó főzde is. Egyfajta tanulópénz volt ez, talán, meg figyelmeztetés hogy a CBS-ttől se várjak majd túl sokat hehe.

pours JET black, small brown/beige head. excellent lacing on the glass. man i love this bourbon aged stouts!
aroma is chocolate, coffee, and i’m just loving that vanilla! mouthfell is thick and smooth, like velvet. flavour is again, lots of chocolate, and the vanilla comes through bigtime, with a wicked coffee aftertaste, and some lovely bittering. Alcohol is slightly present in the aroma and flavour but not enough to detract from the beer overall. outstanding beer!
