This beer taught us that patience truly is a virtue. KBS is a big imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolate and then bourbon barrel-aged to perfection. Incredibly silky and full-bodied with notes of vanilla, cocoa, roasted coffee and charred oak.

Bottle pours deep black with a thin tan head that quickly reduces to lace. The aroma promises roasted coffee which is revealed in the taste among subtle layers of dark bitter chocolate and more. A smooth silky texture leaves these flavors lingering until your next sip. Truly enjoyable.

A perfect companion for the night. Personally, I have found this beer great and really powerful at the mouth, complex and rich in aromas like roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, cacao, you get a side of barrel, oak, final touch with hop, 10.05.21, purchased at the sterk, tasting it at Epalinges.

Smooth, roasty and heavy with coffee notes, hints of bourbony vanilla and oakiness. Classic OMT stuff, still pretty good.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (base 20C / 30A: chocolate and coffee / 33B: bourbon). Bottle 35.5 cl - Batch undeclared (BB undeclared - Bottled on 10.16.24). AROMA: medium-high notes of cocoa and coffee, slight vanilla and faint dried grapes. medium-low vinous alcoholic aroma. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium light brown head, creamy, with good retention for style. leg formation. TASTE: initial medium chocolate and roasted coffee flavor, followed by a slight woody note. hints of bourbon. medium bitterness with a semi-dry and roasted finish. TEXTURE: medium-high body with medium carbonation. alcoholic warmth. OVERALL: although the chocolate and coffee seems a bit too much, there are still some extra hints that gives some complexity to the beer. more bourbon character would be good.
