Bouteille 75cl @ RBBSG III, courtesy of me.

750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG III. Thanks to Sebletitje! Hazy orange, very un-ruby colour. Smells of coffee beans, grapefruit, fruity yeast and touch malts. Taste is sour coffee upfront, grounds, fruits, light sweet white bread malts, grapefruit leading into chalk, spices, bitter grass, bitter lingering coffee grounds, citrus, very dry, white pepper. Lingering grass, citrus sour coffee grounds, faint vinegar. Very bitter finish, very dry. Grainy very thin out. Located quite a bit from the usual Fantome fare. No one at the tasting seemed to be able to agree as to how much coffee they were getting eventhough we were all doing the same bottle (question of sediment?). I got lots & liked it quite a bit.

Craig on Heat Tasting at ChrisO’s. Cloudy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and airy and dry. Light fine carbonation. Airy malts, whisper of caramel. A Sorachi Ace type of floral lemon cream. Touch of generic fruits. Esters. Unlike the others I found this quite light on the coffee and only really noticed it on the back end. Dry finish. Tasty!

Sampled @ RBBSG III. Hazy orange color, small off-white head. Can’t describe the aroma. A bit weird mix of fruits and yeast. Taste yeast, quite bitter, slightly herbs and a bit floral. Decent body and carbonation.

Bottle from Bottledog, Kings Cross. Cloudy, amber colour. Film and halo of off white head. Undoubtedly a Fantome, but with bells on. Do Fantome barrel age beers? This is certainly down that road. Fruity. Funky. Woody. Big hops. Big bitter. Chewy. Oily. So tasty. Lovely beer. By the way...8%?...as if...

Bottle, 75cl. An unclear, dark orange to light brown beer with a small, off-white head. It has the typical Fantome scent, herbal, peppery and grassy, fruity, with a faint touch of malts and hay. Some coffee too. More coffee in the flavor, in a nice way. Really nice actually. Think it’s my first coffee Saison, and I like it. Besides coffee it’s pretty much the the same as the aroma, and off course some bitterness. Don’t think it’s as bitter as the label suggests. Bitter for a saison though. Full body, soft carbonation. Lasting finish with coffee, bitterness, herbs and pepper. Sure a nice one. Pity it’s so expensive, guess I’ll have it again though. 140526
