Schramm’s Ginger is a full-throated, unapologetic expression of pure grated ginger and honey. Honey sweetness is balanced by full ginger flavor with a touch of spiciness, making this mead a perfect choice to pair with spicy Indian, Ethiopian or Thai cuisine, grilled Korean mackerel or flavorful sushi and sashimi. It also pairs well with dark chocolate and is a great addition to a whiskey ginger cocktail or a moscow mule. Batch Information Unavailable for Standard Line-Up

Bottle. Clear pale golden liquid. Aroma of ginger, honey, red berries, dried fruit, peaches and hay. Taste is medium sweet with notes of peaches, ginger, dried fruit and honey. Medium to full bodied with no carbonation. Excellent mead. Extremely complex with loads of notes that isn’t just honey, as compared to other highly rated, primarily Polish, meads. Very elegant. A real treat. Just enough burn from the ginger in the taste to make it interesting.

Tasting at Matt’s
Measured Final Gravity: 1032

Pale blond color. Aroma of ginger, soap and toilet disinfectant. Medium sweet, with mild ginger flavor, hence some chemical feeling.
Drinkable but not great, in mead terms.
Guys, fellow raters, get real; you may like it like you like a cocktail, but this is no mead; you wouldn’t judge a wine by drinking a glass of sangria, right?

Bottle - Sadly the worst, make sure you get or try the small batch. A harshness that is akin to white tequila. Edgy and harsh with bright ginger and heat not in check. Light honey notes throughout with a light color. Flavors are honey and bright ginger. Still good, but not great.

375mL bottle, pours a clear pale yellow with no head. Nose is holy ginger, with no hint of honey at all, just potent ginger (like sushi pickled ginger), with dishwasher and toilet disinfectant. Flavour brings out a bunch of these things, with urinal pucks, dishwasher liquid, toilet disinfectant and chemical ginger. What a strange mead - the honey isn't really noticeable other than contributing some sweetness to balance out the weird chemically notes. The ABV is not noticeable at all somehow. Strange stuff. Doesn't seem to live up to the hype of Schramm's.

375 ml bottle thanks to _angst_! 14% ABV, sampled on August 21, 2014.Clear birch sap or light oxidized inside of pear color, no head. Some slow running legs on the glass. Sweet honey, spicy ginger, perfume, rose petals, slight of lime scent. Sweet, honey, ginger, perfume taste. Honey, ginger aftertaste. Some heating alcohol.Fruity, sweet, fresh, refreshing, spicy, warming character.Smooth easy drinking mouthfeel, a bit of heat from the ginger. No bitterness. Nice and highly drinkable, though you notice the alcohol it is very enjoyable for sure.Excellent one!The slightest bit sparkling on the tongue. A bit too sweet, a bit too much heat, a bit too much alcohol.

Bottle received in trade. Thank you lionsandbeer! Pours very tiny cloudy pale pale golden with no head. Smell is sweet and spicy with high quality honey, freshly peeled ginger, minerals, lemongrass, minerals and hints of hay and lemon zest. Taste is very sweet, tiny bitter and spicy with tons of honey, dried ginger, nutmeg and hints of lingonberries and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is slightly round, sticky sweet, tiny spicy astringent, slightly spicy hot and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and spicy with honey, ginger, minerals, lemon grass and hint of ginger bread, lingonberries and bergamot. Slightly too heavy on the sweetness but coming over the initial chock lots of complexity reveals itself!

Bottle shared at the RBWG grand tasting
Light yellow, no head or lacing. Huge aroma of ginger. Tastes of ginger and sugar
Nice. I really like this, if you don’t like ginger it might be another story though.
