Poured from a tap at Haandbryggeriet Beer Festival. Shared with Finn. Stable pearl white head. Near-clear dark golden body. Citric smell with cheese. Taste of peach, cheese and basement leading to a sharp, short-lived bitter ending. Thin bodied. Just about drinkable (Drammen 29.05.2015).

Hazy (almost cloudy) deep golden color with a fine white head. Nice aroma. Citric, herbal and fruity. Medium (light) body. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Average carbonation. Fresh nice hoppy, pine, herbal and fruity flavor. Good session able beer.

@ Tilquin English Beer Festival 2015. Amber colour, white foam. Hoppy and bitter, easy drinkable. Bit watery but good for the low ABV!

Cloudy yellow color with small head. Aroma is pure Sorachi Ace - dill! Herbal-tea, lemongrass, apricots. Taste is bitter and earthy-grassy. Very bitter-herbal finish, like chewing on a leaf of grass. Light body. Not a "good" beer, but interesting and good for your knowledge. And damn, the ABV is very low.

Sampled from a 0.33l bottle @ Haandfest 2014. This a cloudy golden looking one with a small sidesticking white head. On the nose it's a bit tea like. Hoppy tea with a nice citrus punch. Not hard to identify the sorachi here. Smells like this is a really thin beer, and I would be surprised it it indeed is. Well, I was not mistaking. It's a really thin and light bodied one with a above average carbonation level. Tastes nice. Mouthdrying and a tad astringent perhaps. Lots of sorachi. Tea and hay. Lightdrinkable. Not bad at all. 24.05.2014

24.05.2014, 0,33l bottle sampled @ HaandFestival:
Small creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet moldy - typical sorachi; dried tropical fruits, grapefruit, mold, grass, moss, light malts, soil, hints of coconut. Taste is slightly dry grassy, leafs, bark, moss, mold, soil, lawn, hops, hints of tropical fruits. Longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Very nice for being only 2,5%.

Head: white, small, bubbly, poor retention. Colour: golden-amber, cloudy.
Aroma: strong citrus, pine, raisin, a bit of malt too.
Taste: faint citrus, moderate to strong piney bitterness.
Great aroma and bitterness. Very pleasant and does not feel too light for its minuscule abv.

Pours cloudy and beige-ish orange, a light wood tone. It’s opaquely hazy, but there was quite a bit of sediment on the bottom, so that may have contributed. The head puffs up aggressively with each pour, which made filling the glass into a bit of a chore. Tons of lacing and good retention. The aroma is pretty much all Sorachi Ace, a difficult to describe mix of herbal and citrus notes. There’s lemongrass, lemon verbena, lemons, grass, peppercorn and earth, but it’s heaviest on the herbs and not terribly juicy, as far as citrus-y hops go. There’s some fresh barley in the background. The taste is dry and bitter. The bitterness doesn’t knock you over the head, but it’s firm and somewhat sharp, as such beers are wont to be - and by that, I mean low abv beers that are dry and hoppy. Very good hop flavor on the tongue. You really get a nice blast of Sorachi Ace’s lemony herbal notes. There’s also a pleasant background of fresh malt sweetness, though, again, the beer is pretty dry. Mouthfeel starts out quite lively, but once the head dies down enough to drink the beer comfortably, the beer has a certain smoothness. It’s fuller than expected. This beer packs a ton of flavor into 2.5% abv. Great showcase for Sorachi Ace, probably the best that I’ve come across. I would love to have this on local store shelves, and considering it survived some time traveling around Europe and a flight back to San Francisco, I would encourage the brewery to consider distribution here. It’s particularly interesting to see some excellent, non Biere de Garde/Saison work come out of France. I would love to try more from this brewery.
