Half liter bottle picked up in Cologne opens with a crack and then pours clear deep gold with full near frothy dirty white head. The aroma offers up a good deal of floral hops that smell dry and clean and supported by some spicy hops as well as some lime peel. The taste is indeed bottle stated Powerfully Hopped. Well, it is big on hop bitterness from floral and spicy and almost tart bitter citrus. It dries out a tad into the finish. I do not understand why this is not an IPA on ratebeer when the label states IPA and it is hop forward and tastes like one. This is nice stuff. I do get a bit of sweetness mixing with some floral hops near the finish. WTF! Why does RB keep getting styles wrong?

Bottle courtesy of Tesco. A very aptly named beer! A typical modern American style, spicy, bitter, heavily hopped IPA. Very refreshing and has more bite when served slightly cooler. Not a typical St Austel beer, but very welcome and I'll certainly buy more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is rather hoppy and fruity with hints of resin. Flavour is hoppy with exotic fruits and some hay. A golden ale -like feeling at the finish with grapefruits. Nice, refreshing and hoppy.

500ml Bottle condition, poured into a UK pint sleeve without any sediment leaving the bottle (Sep 2011). Good, clear mid-golden colour, full head of white foam. The head sadly fell away very swiftly, leaving just a weak wispy covering along with a thin collar around the glass. The aroma is mostly of hops (label claims it is "Powerfully Hopped"), however there is also a semi-sweet malty smell just below the grapefruit type citrusy hops. The taste is mini hop bitterness (those grapfruits again), with a healthy malt undertone present from start to finish. This is almost sweet, it is sweet for an IPA, yet there are plenty of hop notes to let you know it’s an IPA: very well made and lovely to drink. The alcohol is well hidden by the blend of ingrediants, I had to check the bottle to see if mine was really 5.5% ABV.

Bottle. Clear honey with a thin head. Aroma is quite light. Balanced grapefruit hop flavour with a bittersweet finish. Palate develops into a rather intense dry hop.

50cl bottle from Waitrose. Amber with a fast fading white head; heady piney aroma with some citrus and apricot; soft in the mouth with tropical fruit and sharp resinous hops that provide a warming, prickly finish with a caramel aftertaste.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small frothy white head. Slightly spicy hop aroma, coniferous wood, not that intense though. Very soft palate, minimal sweet malt; dry, rudimentary sharp hop note, orange zest. Well balanced, very drinkable, but sadly a bit cautious, shy, reduced.

Clear golden color, small white head, lace. Fruity, flowery hoppy nose. Light to medium bodied. Floral and citrusy hoppyness, fruity sweetness. Very traditional bottle British bitter/IPA.

Bottle at home. Golden light amber with a frothy off-white head. Aromas of fruity hops with grapefruit. Grass, more hops, hay and sweet grains in the mouth. A nice medium+ bitterness that lasts. Slick mouthfeel. Overall a well-balanced and good IPA.
