Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

11.2 ounce bottle from State Line Liquors. ABV is a little low for a typical imperial stout, which is a very welcome thing. This bottle has at least one year of age on it, but no vintage markings. Pours a deep, dark brown color with ruby highlights. Almost no head to speak of. Aroma of toffee, roasted malts, smoke, leather, a dusty note, caramel and a bit of fruitiness. I’m really digging it. The taste is roasted malts, cocoa, chocolate, caramel, smoke, leafy hops. Thin-medium bodied. A tasty and truly enjoyable beer.

11th November 2008. Low carbonation opaque black stout. Lots of rich chocolate was well as minerally tangy malt. Not overly thick and goes down very easily. No bitterness or dryness.

A deep dark stout with a thick moka head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, dark fruits, plums, treacle, molasses, and some meaty notes. In mouth, a good bitter chocolate with funky acid points, light cinnamon, a bit thin in mouth, not the greatest IS but fairly decent. Bieropholie import, BB Nov. 2014, tasted Jan. 4 2010.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt, roast and dark chocolate in the aroma. Malty sweetish, roasty flavor with ash, cream, dark chocolate, tobacco. Almost full bodied, good complexity. Excellent brew.

Black beer with weak blond head. Aroma is strongly roasted, chalky and some coffee. Flavour is quite intensive, roasted, some liquirice and dry in the end. Nicely slippery to drink. Roasted, not-interested beer, there are better beers for this category.

11.2 fl oz bottle purchased at Gomer’s in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Pour is opaque black with only a small khaki head. Lacing is left behind on a swirl. Aroma of roast malt, soy and dark chocolate. The chocolate is more of the burnt variety than the sweet. Taste is sweet cane sugar, dark roast chocolate and a bit of the soy from the nose. Aftertaste has a weird mix of the soy and sweet. As it warmed, became more pleasant. Palate is thinner than expected, on the light side of medium. Decent amount of carbonation - really no hint of alcohol. Decent enough.
