For this speciality, we use old and young lambic beer that has aged in our oak casks. When the lambic is 6 months old, we add 25% black cherries. This provokes the second fermentation. We then clarify, filter and bottle it.
The cherries and young lambic create a red beer that is both natural and fresh, with an absolutely unforgettable sweet and sour taste. This is kriek as it should be, with nothing but real cherries and lambic. There is no place for artificial colourings or flavourings.

Sour but sweet cherries aroma. Similar taste, with some almonds. Dry finish.

On tap at the brewery. Nice ruby color with pinkish head. Nice cherries, sugar, medium sweetness, fruity tartness with no real sourness. Smooth texture,

750ml @ Alex's. Vintage 1998. Yup. It is 25 years old. Appearance: hazy copper with some a bit rose head. Aroma: some cherries and a bit of brown sugar. Taste: along the same lines, still has a little bit of carbonation. No funk left. Overall: good one for 25 years old beer. At this stage it does remind be Bourgogne de Flandres. In fact, the beer is somewhere in between of the Bourgogne and Kriek in terms of sweetness and flavour.

Bottle from Tesco Supermarket, Middleton. Has pleasant light cherry in both aroma and taste and is lightly carbonated, as such it's a cherry colour in appearance. There's a sweetness too.
