Bottle (750ml): Almost black, quite stable creamy tanned head; leathery-smoky nose, some sweet dried fruits underneath; solid drier bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; pretty dry malty-leathery finish with a vinous aftertaste. Pretty, smoky and vinous brew.....

12/11/11/9/10/11

Bottle shared with friends. Black pour with beige, super creamy head that has long retention. Strong smokey bacon and burnt malts in aroma. Flavor is primarily very smoking, with cocoa and a little coffee hidden behind. Dry with mild carbonation.

Smallish dark-beige head, fast receding over well-carbonated jet-black beer. Phenolic, smoked ham, BBQ nose. I get some chocolate malt in the background, together with some faint sweet flavour upon the salty smoke - umami, the fads would say. Dry, woody, even a bit tart flavour, with some phenols and ashes, but less salty/hamlike. Mineral, yes. Retronasal, typical stout acidity. Rich, voluptuous feel, relieved by the carbonation (but dwindling in time). Good, if restrained smoked. Another good one from Fidenza.

750 ml bottle @ Cardinal. Dark brown, almost black body with a big, creamy beige head. Aroma is strong, pleasant smoke and bacon. Flavor is mild roasted malt and moderate smoke, medium bitter. Really balanced and smooth. Not particular complex but soft and very pleasant.

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with an off-white head. The aroma has strong notes of smoke as well as medium notes of bacon. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of bacon, but also medium notes of smoke and roasted malt, leading to a dry smokey finish. The body is light.
