From the one and only Dugges Ale & Porterbryggeri in Gothenburg, Sweden, an original, robust "Imperial Porter" with notes of coffee and salty liqorice.

Thin, sweet and fruity. This is not what I like in an imperial porter. There’s some chocolate and caramel, but it’s dominated by weak fruity malt flavors - apricot, plum, raisin - and odd spices, like licorice. I had high hopes for my first Dugges beer, but this one failed to come through (as did the second, actually). Mouthfeel was thin and watery. Aroma was light.

Sample from bottle, CBF 2011. Black colour with small beige head. Strong coffee aromas, espresso, salt licorice and burned maltiness. Dry coffee and cocoa flavor, espresso, somewhat vinous finish. Nice and balanced beer.

Bottle @ Seabass going away party, Jan15th ’11. Courtesy of Fogdog.

Draught at Tre Små Rum, Göteborg. Pitch black body, off white thick head that went away slowly. Strong coffeeish nose, quite pungent. The taste falls somewhere between chicory and coffee, smooth but edged by a slightly acidic hopiness that throws it slightly off balanced. Definitely a likable porter!
