Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate woody vanilla aroma. Roasted malty chocolate, licorice and woody whisky flavor with hints of vanilla. Has a roasted malty chooclate and woody vanilla finish.

Barrel Aged
Dark brown color, oily surface. Strong aroma, coffee, dark cookies, whisky, vanilla. Thick and oily texture, strong chocolate flavor, roasted barley coffee, cookies, vanilla, some alcohol, liquorice, light tar. Correct bitterness; the alcohol warms the mouth in the end. Excellent sipper.

250ml bottle bought at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen. Oily pour resulting in a body that is black as pitch and a bright, black, naked surface. Rich and deep smell of dark chocolate sustain by oak vanilla and partly offset by bitter liquorice. Sweet black malts in flavour supported by dark fruits, liquorice and tart hops. Bittering malts to a lingering aftertaste. Nice sipper, well made (Friday eve at home in Tromsø, 08.07.2011).

Bottle, KØ11. Distinct vanilla/ barrel aroma. Black colour. No head. The flavour is quite sweet, has a good vanilla/cigarbox note. Some alcohol in the finish, rounds it off nicely.

Almost black with a beige head. Aroma is quite sweet, roasted malt, coffee, heavy vanilla and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted bitter finish. 270511

Bottle thanks to Kan! Pours pitch black with no head whatsoever. Aroma is full of oak with dark grain and dark fruits as well as backing roasted malts and bitter chocolate. Flavor is similarly full of oak with roasted malts and dark chocolate. Got better as it warmed by had no carbonation at all.

Bottle at Tre Små Rum. Pours black with beige head. Thick aroma of caramel, vanilla and some coffee. Same aspects in flavor with a little licorice and oak. Soft carbonation. (Rated 2011/04/16)

Sample from bottle, Copenhagen Beer Festival. Black colour. Intense aroma, roasty, vanilla, chocolate, a hint of fusel, oak. The flavour has much the same elements, the hint of fusel detracts a point or two, and the sweetness is bordering on "too much". But by all means, this is a craft beer well worth sampling.
