I have no idea if I am putting this rating in the right place, but the bottle looks the same and everyone else seems to be putting their ratings here, so... - black pour - minimal lace - has some tart and tannic notes in the nose that are decent, but there are also strong aromas of DMS/boiled cabbage, burnt popcorn, char - flavor is sweet chocolate up front, as well as mild roast and smoke - later flavors of burnt popcorn, light DMS, light copper, mild tartness - overall messy and confusing - their lager was terrible and this isn’t all that good (although I likely won’t pour it down the drain like I did the lager) - I have one more beer from this brewery to try - I am not looking forward to it.

Bottle @ Brad’s house. Pours a deep brown appearance with a light brown head. Spicy, chocolate, anise, raisin, light grape fruity aroma. Plum, raisin, grape, dark chocolate, caramel, port, molasses, light citrus flavor. Kind of strong. Not bad but not my favorite.

Pours a fairly thick, oily black with smallish head. The wood and fruits are present in the aroma. First taste was very strong licorice, with a definite woody note underlying. There’s also a bit of the cabernet present in the an underlying sour flavor, as well as the raisin, some coffee and chocolate. Glad I picked this one out to give a try.

Pitch black color. Acidic, tart, dark chocolate and tootsie roll nose. An interesting underlying creaminess. Full bodied. Good roasted character, moderate sour. Alcohol well hidden. Lingering dark fruit and chocolate finish. Very enjoyable. Slight alcohol burn at the end.

Bottle pours black with a medium head. Aroma is chocolate and espresso with lots of Berry vinous notes. Flavor is big roast and smoke with dry red vinous notes coming forward and finishing with lots of grassy hops. Good stuff.
