This pilsner beer is a combination of ground red peppers, malted barley and hops. It’s a delicious, velvety beer with a hint of spice and a surprisingly warm finish.

Bottle at home. Aroma is pale malt, straw, light yeast, some spicy and herbal notes, a little pepper, grassy hops. Flavour is light sweet and a bit above moderate bitter. Body is medium. A very satisfying peppery unfiltered Pilsener.

33cl bottle from Beerwulf webshop. F: medium, white, not long lasting. C: pale gold, light hazy. A: malty, spicy, herbal, bit bready, caramel, fruity touch. T: malty, bready, herbal touch, light caramel, bit simple, more on the sweet side yet not bad, not typical for the style but not bad, medium carbonation, enjoyed.

Thuis uit een flesje, gekocht in de nieuwe brouwerij vande 7 deugden. Licht geel van kleur, goed wit schuim. Een prima pittige nasmaak, lijkt mij uitstekend bij Aziatisch eten. Goed gelukt.

Chili pepper flavoured pale lager - an ominous feeling creeps into my memory, whispering "Cave Creek"... This is thankfully a lot better: thick, sticky, dense, snow white head over a greenish pale blonde beer with light haziness. Aroma indeed breathes the crisp sharpness of freshly cut red pepper, along with flowers, sourdough, white bread, apple peel, even a vague hint of banana bread. Crisp malt fruitiness in the mouth but, expectedly, low in esters, a bit softer and lightly bready in the middle, some baker’s yeast, faint apple touch and then there it is: a soft and subtle but unmistakable ’piquanterie’ of fresh red pepper, not burning, but adding complexity and a tangy feel to the whole, pairing quite well with the soft leafy hop bitterness. More than just a gimmick like many more industrial pepper lagers: this is a noble Pilsener with even certain Landbier-like traits, in which the chili pepper is adequately applied to add an extra flavour instead of dominating everything. I kind of like this, and I am seriously becoming interested in anything else this brewery does.
