A beer with beet juice color.
Wacko is the liquid song of summer: Crisp like the morning, cool like the evening and quenching all day long. Pop the top and set your summer loose. Wacko is a delicious summer beer with a big malty aroma, a subdued hop bite and a clean, slightly sweet finish.

Crazy bright orange/ruby coloured body from the pour with a pink but fading to whit head - seems more of a gimmick than anything else. Aroma of fake sugar, sweet cherries, malt and a bit of yeast. Light-bodied; Funky assertive bitter malt and sugars - mostly beet, I suppose? Aftertaste is plain, super bitter and pretty nasty, actually. Overall, not much going on here - hardly any complexity, and the awful bitterness just lasts and lasts. I sampled this twelve ounce but would recommend that you don’t try this at all! I purchased this bottle at Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 11-June-2009, sampled on 23-June-2009 at home in Washington.

This beer pours I guess beet red with a medium thick and fizzy pinkish-white head that burns away steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma is lightly floral with notes of vegetables and yeast. Light body with flavors of malt, mild hops and corn. The finish is short and vegetal with a light hops finish. Below average everywhere except the interesting color.

Tap. Poured red, almost a pink color with a white head. Aroma was quite weak, some sweet notes. Quite subdued, expecting more flavor, disappointing.

Pours a charming reddish hue. Very slight, pure white head. The flavor is like...it’s trying to taste fruity but it doesn’t quite get there, and it left me a bit unsatisfied. Very smooth with mild and bitter bite towards the end. I would opt for different Magic Hat beer over the Wacko in the future.

Like most other people on this website, the most interesting thing about the beer is its unique appearance, which is shiny red, with a slightly red foamy head. The beer smells fruity. And it tastes really yeasty and bready with really mild hops. And unlike the previous reviewer, I thought that this beer was rather smooth.

12oz bottle. Translucent beige-pink color, big frothy head. The aroma is sweet and a little odd. I don’t get beet so much as I detect Magic Hat yeast, which dominates any would be subtleties. Sweet artificial watermelon? The aftertaste is a little awkward too, English Ale with an odd vegetable twist. Unique and not outright horrible, but not recommended.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red orange color with a huge pink head. The aroma was dry, malty, bready and had a hint of fruits. The flavor was tart, bitter and yet dry with a bready and vaguely fruity undertone. The finish was medium length. Eh.

Bottle courtesy of Phukktifano on 05/11/2009. Very clear cherry red body with a medium frothy light pink head. Grainy and lightly fruity aroma with some light cheerios notes. Sweet cheerios flavor with a bit of nuttiness and a bit of fruity hints. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Hazy strawberry pink/red body, medium off-white head. Tangy, grassy nose, wet hay, and fruit skin. Bitter, fruit skin body, sudsy and soapy, finishing with cereals. No real sweetness, little flavor. Magic Hat’s chaotic chemistry almost always leads to beer mediocrity. Hmmm...

Bottle. Holy shit! This is bright pink! Didn’t see that coming. Very little seltzer like fizzy head. Aromas are sugary with little else there. Flavor is sweet sugary malt with little else to offer... what in the heck is going on at Magic Hat???!!!
