A beer with beet juice color.
Wacko is the liquid song of summer: Crisp like the morning, cool like the evening and quenching all day long. Pop the top and set your summer loose. Wacko is a delicious summer beer with a big malty aroma, a subdued hop bite and a clean, slightly sweet finish.

Clear bright beet juice reddish purple tinge, almost looks artificial but once I realize its beets, its not. Pinkish interesting head. Hoppy first impressions on the palate. Not as fruity as it looks. Mild old permanent hair treatment flavors in the background. Good fizzy carbonation. Slaggy finish. Interesting name, different kind of beer experience.

Pours neon pink into a shaker. Pinkish micro head with medium retention recedes leaving few spots. Dusty fruit and vegetable aromas. Sharp and astringent upfront with a nasty bitter tree bark finish.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly's, 4/27/09

Aroma: Grassy, grainy smelling beer, a bit odd in the aroma
Appearance: Bright red, clear beer, really really red
Flavor: Malty beer, with some odd qualities to the to it
Palate: Kind of odd palate, just a drop syrupy
Overall Impression: Wow this beer is red. It almost looks weird, and the flavor isn't so great. Its Magic Hat...

12 ounce bottle from a sampler. Pours a clear strawberry red color with a large creamy head. Decent head retention and fair lacing. Aroma is malty and slightly grainy with sugar and tart berry-like fruit notes. Taste is brown sugar, beets, grain and a very light toastiness and maltiness. Interesting one.

Draught pint of nearly-flat, kool-aid pink/red colored, clear liquid served at Sunset Grill on 7/19/07. They had just put the keg on fresh that night, so I gotta believe this beer wasn’t their fault.
Not much of an aroma. Some very light malt sugars (honey, a touch of sweet almonds) and some light citrus notes of lemon. If there are beets in this, I can’t tell from the aroma or flavor.
Extremely light-bodied beer, with some sparing honey suggestions, some brief interludes of hops (lemon, grass) on the finish and maybe a vegetable starch suggestion? I know I wouldnt be saying that if I didnt know this had beets in it. But stretching to find it, knowing it’s there, perhaps I can sense some of it. Medium carbonation, no alcohol or flaws. One of the most flavorless beers I’ve ever had.

On tap at the brewery, and currently on tap around VT as "Beet Beer" - a beet beer for a beat poet - clever- well, the concept is anyway - in practice it’s pretty boring - attractive, but not all that enticing pink color, with a pink-tinted white head - very earthy, root plant aroma (go figure), with soil and mustiness - that’s about as interesting as it gets - light beet flavor with a very faint maltiness/grainy quality through the otherwise watery taste (without it you’d think you weren’t drinking beer) - points for the concept, but, man, this is bland stuff.
