Bottle from Mr. Hop, drunk after joining the bookmatched walnut back for the new bass. Rather dark brown, moderate head not loading all too long. Nose is bready brown sugar, caramel, nice complexity. The flavor - wow, very complex yeast notes, well rounded with a fantastic mouthfeel of ultra fine, almost champagne-like carb. Not too sweet and some nice lingering bitterness/woodiness balancing it all. Best beer of the month so far.
I don’t actually like dubbels. But yeah. This one is rather good, eh!

Bottle 0.33l. Exactly ten years from purchasing this bottle at Westvleteren. Cloudy, copper colored. AROMA- a bit "old" character, plum, cherry, berries, dark grapes. FLAVOR- slightly sweet, lightly bitter, the same fruit. Medium to fuller bodied.
Still good. Yes, ten years is good for this beer.

Yay..I finally got one. It was a 2008 bottle (didn’t take down the date...d’oh). 33 CL bottle from Beer Planet in Brussels. I had to buy a bunc of other beer first but the clerk let me in on some which he had hidden behind him on the counter. 8E a bottle is steep for a weak dollar, but worth it.
Finally getting the beer is almost more fun than the actual beer itself. But the beer itself is pretty darned good too. The bottle foamed like crazy when I opened it, which led me to cry when I saw precious Westv being wasted. Anyway it poured into a trappist glass with a nearly perfect symmetrical head. The color was a pretty dark (but not opaque) brown, visible sediment etc at the bottom. Aroma was a bit of spice more so than anything else. Taste was a very well balanced blend of fruits & spices & molasses. A bit of a hops kicker at the end. Worth the wait.

Yes, I finally drank one of these too! On my trip to Europe, when we went to Belgium. Yes it too, like the 12, is as great as everyone says (actually better). I rank this #2 on my all time list of beers. Andech’s Doppelbock #1.

Bottle at home.

Been in the cellar for nearly a decade. Probably a 2015 or 2016 vintage. Brown with a foamy head of modest duration. Brown sugar aroma. Toffee. Spice. Figs. Taste is sweet up front, moderate bitter at the back with a subtle, prune-like fruitiness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, warm at the end, but the alcohol is hardly noticeable. Quite good, but not great.
