Hop-wise we have used, in addition to half a kilo of Magnum for bittering, UK hops in the form of the delicious and sadly all-too-rare Bramling Cross which will give a berryish, fruity and juicy bramble aroma / flavour to the brew plus, as is our wont, we’ve dry-hopped it with Bramling Cross too just to be sure there’s enough hop character in there! The hop rate is almost double the last stout at nearly 4kg in a 6BBL brew and we’ve very high hopes for this one indeed...

Near black body. Shiny bright surface. Aroma of chocolate malts with hints of roastiness. Dark fruits in flavour along with oatmeal and hints of chocolate malts. Bitter finish. Medium bodied. Easy to like. Gravity at the 36th Steel City Beer Festival 30 Sep 10.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London) This was nice. Roastedness, mild burntness and sourness from oatmeal were well balanced. No component drowned others and still all were clearly present. Flavours were strong and sour and bitter finish lasted long. I definately would like to have a chance to try this one again. Great.
